In the early hours of Thursday morning, a major fire disaster was staffed-off by the management of Wuse market in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

One of the officials of the market who pleaded anonymity said the fire started out in a shop around 4 AM on Thursday.

The shop owner Mrs Lydia, received a phone call around 10 AM alerting her of the incident.

“Around 10 AM, I got a call from the management of Wuse market that my attention is needed in the market. I enquired why, and the voice said there was a fire outbreak at my shop. I became so apprehensive upon hearing the news so I had to hurry to the market”.

Luckily, the fire was put out just before it could spread to other shops in a market with more than 2,000 shops and investments worth billions of Naira.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained as the management of the market is still investigating the incident.
